Bed B - Summer

Summer months 2 and 3 are the hottest, and temperatures above 30 C can be expected. However, the extra energy provided by the sun translates into rapid growth as long as precautions, such as shade cloth and adjusted water supply, are available when needed.

The Black Krim and Oxheart slicing tomatoes during the summer season have exceeded their expectations. I found them to be delicious, with the full-vibrant tomato taste that only organically grown tomatoes can provide and its unique flavour that is glorious to experience.

At the end of summer, there were sufficient tomatoes of various types and at different stages of growth on the vines, some ripe and others that will ripen over the next few weeks. These will continue to supply, along with the container tomatoes, enough for my family for the remainder of the tomato growing period.

The video below shows the highlights and challenges faced while growing vegetables in Bed B during summer.
